Babcock & Wilcox, International Division, has signed a contract
with Fossil for equipment
supply to Tanjung Jati Power Plant on the Java Sea in Indonesia.
There are 2 X 660MW Babcock & Wilcox pulverized coal, wall-fired
boilers for which Fossil will supply Ignitors, VIR VI Flame Scanners,
Valves, Valves Trains with Junction Boxes, and a clean-air supply
blower system.July 6, 2004 -
Commissioning is complete on the Spectrum VIR VI flame scanners
supplied by Fossil for a 98 burner coal fired boiler in American
Electric Power’s system in Indiana. Besides standard flame
monitoring duty, these FPS scanners are interfacing with B&W’s
Flame Doctor software.

Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approval services has
witnessed extensive additional testing of our automatic valves.
As a result the approved operating temperature and pressure
ranges have
been increased. As well, additional solenoid options were
approved to allow Fossil to offer more choices in CSA approved
automatic gas safety shutoff valves.

Fossil has successfully completed
revision of the control strategy configuration and boiler tuning
at TransAlta Energy Corporation's
Poplar Creek plant located at Suncor in Fort McMurray Alberta.
The boiler controls were supplied a few years ago by another
company. Now for the first time
operators are able to run the boiler in automatic mode. Earlier this
year Fossil supplied gas ignitors for another boiler at the same
plant. Plant operators have expressed great satisfaction with
the improvement to overall boiler reliability following
installation of the FPS ignitors. FPS ignitors
will be installed on a second boiler at this plant early in
2005.

Fossil shipped Spectrum VIR VI main
flame scanners, along with valve racks and central PLC control
for retractable oil ignitors to AEP’s Kammer plant. All local
switches, indicators, valves and solenoids related to fourteen
ignitors are located on the two valve racks with rack-mounted
control cabinets to produce compact, easily installed units,
custom designed for the existing space.
