March 2003 - We are pleased to announce the release of Fossil Power System’s (FPS) new dual fuel ignitor, to fire gas and light oil, in a smaller guide sleeve to fit into new low Nox burner designs. The new design features the Plasma Arc Ignition (PAI) system which has further improved the reliability of FPS oil ignitors, and of course the new ignitor includes the SunSpot flame detector. Already more than 100 of these ignitors have been ordered for three installations.

FPS has been contracted to supply burner management systems, VIR VI flame scanners and gas ignitors for two Norske Canada plants.

April 2003
FPS has been awarded the contract to supply ignitors for a 1500 MW utility boiler at the American Electric Power (AEP) Rockport plant in Indiana.

FPS is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract to supply the FPS designed and manufactured Retractable Oil Ignitors and our VIR VI Flame Scanners for NB Power’s Coleson Cove Generating Station in Saint John, New Brunswick.
